In Dialogue and Deed: The Teaching of Christ #254

In Dialogue and Deed: The Teaching of Christ Upon the dusty roads, beneath the ancient sun, A voice did rise, with words that spun A tapestry of truth, in dialogue and deed, Where wisdom flowed for every heart in need. "Let he without sin cast the first stone," He said, As judgment's weight hung heavy, dread. But mercy's hand, in actions soft and silent, Spoke volumes, in love's dialect, defiant. The Mount did echo, sermon pure and profound, A monologue to the masses, yet a dialogue found. For every beatitude, a mirror to the soul, Reflecting outcast's plight, making broken whole. Monologue's tradition, in sacred halls does rest, Yet dialogue's embrace, might serve us best. For in the back and forth, in question and reply, Lies the path to understanding, reaching high. Transform, oh preachers, your sermons set in stone, To conversations where light of truth is shown. Engage the hearts of all, in dialogue divine, And walk the path of Christ, where love and wisdom twine. So let us speak and listen, in equal share, And find in each other's words, solace, hope to bear. For in the communion of spirits, in the exchange of thought, Lies the essence of the teachings, Jesus taught. -Written by Steven G. Lee (February 9, 2024)
