Lament of the Lost: A Verse for Homeless Students #985

Lament of the Lost: A Verse for Homeless Students In halls of learning, shadows creep, Where dreams of youth in turmoil sleep. Beneath the weight of tuition's toll, And textbooks' grasp, a heavy scroll. Rising rents, like fortress walls, Bar access to their hallowed halls. No refuge found in campus bed, For some, the streets loom close ahead. In fractured homes, where ties decay, The specter of homelessness holds sway. Mental storms and substance's snare, Leave hearts and minds in deep despair. Amidst this labyrinthine plight, Hope flickers faint, a waning light. As colleges stand silent, blind, To students lost, no solace find. Echoes of homelessness resound, In the silence of indifference found. Yet still, a cry for aid rings true, For those adrift, in need of rescue. Written by Steven G. Lee (April 23, 2024)
