From Cross to Crown: Verses of Faith and Fate #1091
From Cross to Crown: Verses of Faith and Fate
Upon the rugged cross, the Christ did hang,
Beside Him, thieves, their final breaths did cling.
One voice in scorn, not knowing what it sang,
"Save us, Messiah, if you wear that ring."
But silence spoke of realms beyond the earth,
Of kingdoms not of stone, but wrought in soul,
Where righteousness finds not its worth in mirth,
Nor in the shallow cheer of crowd's control.
Beware, He said, the prophet warmly praised,
For truth oft walks in rags, and stirs the air,
Its path a lonely road, through wildwoods razed,
Where voices falter and the brave despair.
Yet Ezekiel in the valley stood,
And spoke of lives like coins that turn and spin,
"Your past is not your bond, nor evil good,
Each day afresh, to lose your way or win."
The righteous path is not a road once trod,
But daily bread, and steps anew each morn,
For he who seeks to live at peace with God
Must plant his deeds afresh, and bear the thorn.
Thus scriptures weave a tapestry of choice,
Of faith that’s tested by the fire’s embrace,
Where truth is whispered in a still, small voice,
And justice, love, and mercy interlace.
