In the Shadows of Modern Idols #437
In the Shadows of Modern Idols
In this age, where shadows lengthen beneath the glow of screens,
Idolatry wears the mask of progress, whispering promises in the hum of the digital dawn.
We bow, not at altars of stone, but before the gleam of gadgets,
Worshipping in temples of silicon and circuits,
Offering our time as sacrifice, our attention as prayer.
We chase the wind—wealth, a fleeting mirage on the horizon of desire,
Technology, a siren calling us to the rocks of isolation.
In the pursuit of likes, followers, the ephemeral applause of strangers,
We lose ourselves, forgetting the warmth of a human touch,
The resonance of a voice that speaks not through speakers but soul to soul.
This idolatry, subtle and insidious,
Turns hearts of flesh to circuits, connections to connectivity,
Replacing communion with comments, fellowship with feeds.
Yet, amidst the cacophony, a whisper endures,
A call to awaken from the trance of transient treasures.
To recognize the idolatry of our times is to see beyond the screen,
To question the worth of what we hold dear,
To find balance in the binary, meaning beyond the material.
It is a journey back to the essence, where true value resides not in possessions
But in moments of genuine connection, in the depth of relationships,
In the pursuit of a spirituality that binds us not to the ephemeral
But to the eternal, not to the divisible but to the divine.
In this recognition lies our liberation,
A path back to the heart, to the essence of what it means to be truly human,
Beyond the shadows of modern idols, into the light of timeless truth.
