Battles of the Heart #2132

Battles of the Heart In the streets, His battles were waged, Not in dogma, but in hearts engaged. Jesus spoke to conscience clear, In every soul, His voice sincere. Not with swords or earthly might, But with love, He fought the fight. A conscience clean, by blood redeemed, Christ's sacrifice, our spirits gleamed. “How much more,” the Scripture speaks, “The blood of Christ,” our hearts it seeks. Unblemished, through the Spirit’s power, Cleanses us in our darkest hour. From acts of death, our souls released, To serve the living God, our peace. Two copper coins, a widow’s gift, More than riches, her spirit lifts. “Truly,” He said, “she’s given more,” Her humble heart, the heavens adore. Not in wealth, but in intent, Jesus’ math, His message sent. In battles fought not on the ground, But in the hearts where love is found. A good conscience, pure and bright, Guided by His sacred light. -Steven G. Lee (July 1, 2024)
