The Cry of Abandonment #2115

The Cry of Abandonment "My God, My God, why did You abandon me?" The cry of the forsaken Savior echoes through the annals of time, reverberating in the hearts of those who have felt the cold embrace of abandonment. In the landscape of life, where isolation reigns and loneliness pierces the soul, we find ourselves left to suffer alone, just as He was on that rugged cross. In His abandonment lies the essence of our human plight, a profound testament to the depths of divine love and the weight of our collective sorrow. He was left to bear the unimaginable, to feel the sting of isolation, a solitary figure in the vast expanse of human suffering. Yet, in this desolation, a path to forgiveness shines, painful and profound, leading us to a place where hurt no longer binds us. Forgiveness is not a passive sentiment but a choice in action, a deliberate step towards healing. It is no wonder that we, in our fear and frailty, make terrible choices to avoid the specter of abandonment. We falter, seeking refuge in the shadows, clinging to fleeting comforts. In our desperation, we often abandon those who stumble, casting them aside as proof of guilt, turning away in judgment and fear. Yet, through the cry, "My God, My God," a deeper truth unfolds. It is a call to embrace our suffering, to recognize the transformative power of forgiveness. Abandonment, though a harsh reality, becomes the crucible in which forgiveness is forged. In His abandonment, He found the strength to forgive, teaching us that through our own pain, we too can rise above and offer grace. Let us not abandon, let us not judge in haste, but instead, let us embrace the call to forgive, to heal the wounds that life inflicts. In the footsteps of the One who was abandoned yet forgave, we discover the power to transform our lives, to love without condition, and to find freedom in the act of forgiveness. For in this divine paradox, we find the strength to transcend our suffering and to embrace the boundless grace that heals and restores. -Steven G. Lee (July 1, 2024)
