Embracing Forgiveness #2114

Embracing Forgiveness In the shadow of the cross, a cry resounds, "My God, My God, why did You abandon me?" Echoing through time, it finds our hearts, In the cold, stark landscape where isolation reigns. Abandonment's sting, a pain we know, Left to suffer alone, bearing sorrow’s weight. Yet in this desolation, a path emerges, A light of forgiveness, freeing us from hurt. Forgiveness, not passive, but a choice in action, A deliberate step toward healing's embrace. We falter, we fear, we make poor choices, Avoiding the specter of abandonment’s grasp. In our desperation, we abandon those who stumble, Casting judgment, turning away in haste. But in His cry, a deeper truth unfolds, A call to embrace our suffering, to forgive. Through abandonment, His strength to forgive, Teaches us to rise above our pain. To offer grace, to heal, to love, In the footsteps of the One who suffered for us all. Let us not abandon, let us not judge, But embrace the call to forgive and heal. In this divine paradox, we find our strength, To transcend our suffering, to restore and love. For in the act of forgiveness, we find our freedom, Boundless grace that heals and renews. May this truth guide our hearts and actions, As we seek to forgive, to heal, and to love as He did. -Steven G. Lee (July 1, 2024)
